Course Description

Experience the Classical Training with master artist Juliette Aristides.

Come as you are and join Juliette Aristides for a three-day immersion in figure painting, whether you are a beginner looking to try something new, or an experienced painter interested in Classical training.

Explore the stages of painting, from quick starts to a sequential development of a longer pose throughout the rest of the workshop. During our time, we will focus on drawing and placement of large value masses as these elements hold the power and personality within a painting. We will look back at art history to discuss palette, the careful management of edges and treatment of light.

Your instructor will provide frequent demos and break down the process of painting into clear and consecutive steps. We will have lively conversations, critiques and individual instruction each informative and fun session.

Juliette Aristides

Juliette Aristides is author of several books on classical painting and drawing. She is a gifted, passionate, and intellectually stimulating artist who seeks to understand and convey the human spirit through art. She began her studies in 1988 under Myron Barnstone. After other studies, she spent two years of instruction at the National Academy in New York with Jacob Collins, where she received the Wilder Prize for Drawing and the Albert Hallgarten Traveling Scholarship. While also receiving instruction from Carlos Madrid, Juliette spent a year working with a small group of students at Jacob Collins' studio prior to becoming a founding member of the Water Street Studio in Brooklyn, New York.
