More Than a Business

Kline Academy was created from a passion for preserving the lost traditions of classical realist art education.

Founder Cheryl Kline studied with Jan Valentin Saether, a Norwegian artist influenced by Rembrandt traditions, as well as at the Florence Academy of Art. What began as a small group of artists asking, “Can you teach us how to paint?” eventually became one of Los Angeles’ respected independent fine art academies.

For nearly 20 years, Kline Academy has trained beginning and advanced artists in drawing, painting, sculpture, portraiture, landscape, and contemporary approaches rooted in strong foundational skills.

The academy has become more than a school. It is a creative home, a community, and a place where traditional artistic training continues to thrive in Los Angeles.

In recent years, Cheryl transitioned away from teaching to focus on creative direction and management, ensuring the academy’s voice continued through its diverse instructors and artistic community.

She remains committed to supporting a smooth and successful transition for the next owner or steward.
