With Master Artist

David Assel

1 Day | Sun. February 26th, 2023 | 10:00 am - 5:00 pm

Course Description

You will draw, create an armature, and sculpt a maquette of your own creature design. Be it fantasy, sci fi, or horror; the options are endless. In this class we will explore with an open mind, our three favorite animals and how to combine aspects of them together. You will assign a personality to your own character that you would like to convey. After drawing them, we will create armatures. And we will sculpt them in 3D using Monster Clay.

What You'll Learn

Choose three of your favorite animals that you would like to combine, with the option of an additional human/ humanoid physique.

Choose the mood or personality type of the character for your presentation.

Draw a mashup of these favorite animals into one creature with the mood and personality type that you have selected.

Create a small armature skeleton frame out of wire for your 3D clay sculpture maquette to depict your drawn concept. Our Maquettes will be 9-12 inches tall.

Use “soft” or “medium,” monster clay to start sculpting upon your armature. It will be based on the drawn concept.

Monster Clay will not dry- So you can take it home and keep working on it if you want to!
